Historian Donald Prudlo says the canonisation is a definitive affirmation of what St John Henry Newman means for the Church.

What's the history of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament?

The Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, here in East Anglia, has once again reached the Parish of Our Lady of the Annunciation in King's Lynn. It seems that a lot of parishes are starting to have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, either as a regular practice or just on occasion.

 

Is this something new? Isn’t the celebration of the Mass enough?

 

Oxburgh Hall - St Wilfrid's Deanery Corpus Christi Procession

Over 100 parishioners from across St. Wilfrid’s Deanery (North West Norfolk) took part in the annual Corpus Christi Procession at Oxburgh Hall on a beautiful summer afternoon on June 23.

The Blessed Sacrament was carried from the Bedingfeld family chapel around the moat of the historic hall and through the courtyard to the private lawn where benediction was given before the procession returned to the chapel. Children from Swaffham strew flowers before the Blessed Sacrament and the canopy was borne by Catenians from the West Norfolk Circle. There was much interest shown by the many visitors to the National Trust property.

Knights of St Columba set up stall on the Walks

Fundraising stall was set up by the Knights of St Columba, raising funds for local good causes and charities. The regimental bottle stall and candy floss making machine were great attractions on the eventful day.

On the afternoon of Sunday, 3rd June, parishioners, religious sisters and clergy accumulated at Oxburgh Hall, Norfolk, the ancestral home of Sir Henry Bedingfeld for the annual Corpus Christi Procession.

Sir Henry once commented, “We’re still Catholic, I’m glad to say; in fact my eldest son is a Catholic priest.”

Diocese of East Anglia's Pilgrimage to Walsingham

Around 900 people joined the annual Diocese of East Anglia pilgrimage to Walsingham on Bank Holiday Monday, May 7, which took on a new format in record-breaking temperatures.

The pilgrimage began at the Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, rather than in Walsingham's Friday Market Place, with a Pontifical Mass of Our Lady of Cana held in and outside the Chapel of Our Lady of Reconciliation in bright sun and a record-breaking temperature of 25 degrees C.

Order of St John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller - Investiture

Holy Mass and the Solemn Ceremony of Investiture of Postulant Knights and Dame took place on the evening of Saturday 16th September 2017 in the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, King's Lynn, Norfolk.

The candidates for investiture were Paul Edward Burdick, Lester Noel Darby and Caroline Anne Glazebrook.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNIONS

Sixty young people of the Catholic Parish of King's Lynn celebrated their First Holy Communion on Sunday, 7th May 2017. Their wonderful Mass was celebrated by the Very Rev. Peter Canon Rollings VF, the Parish Priest, at St Nicholas' Chapel in King's Lynn, where some 400 people witnessed this great occasion.

​DIOCESE OF EAST ANGLIA'S PILGRIMAGE TO WALSINGHAM

Over 1,000 people joined the annual Diocese of East Anglia pilgrimage to Walsingham on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1. 

The pilgrimage began in Walsingham’s Friday market place, outside the Church of the Annunciation and processed along the Holy Mile to the Catholic National Shrine (now the Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham).

Groups from across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs and Peterborough joined the pilgrimage which this year also marked 120 years since the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham was restored in the Holy House at King’s Lynn.

It began at midday with the Angelus followed by Bishop Alan ..........

AUSTIN LEWIS CENTENARY - Requiem Mass in the Tridentine Rite

AUSTIN LEWIS CENTENARY - A Requiem Mass in the Tridentine Rite for him and all who have died as a result of war was held at 7.00 p.m. at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation.

Austin Lewis, who was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation was only 19 when he died at the 2nd Battle of Gaza on April 19th, 1917. A memorial plaque in the church commemorates his gallantry as he died whilst he tried to rescue an injured colleague.

Fr. Henry Whinesant celebrated the sung Mass.

Francis Peter Martin and Charles Busuttil, both Knights of St Columba and Knights of St John of Jerusalem Hospitaller (Malta) welcomed Sir Henry Bellingham MP, who was in the Queen's New Years Honours List and knighted in 2016, to the Easter Mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation.
